Fellowship at IMLI for the 2023-2024 academic year

The International Group of P&I Clubs is awarding a Fellowship at IMLI for the 2023-2024 academic year

The Group’s Education Committee is delighted to offer another excellent candidate a fellowship for the academic year 2023-2024. The Group’s Fellowship for 2023-2024 to pursue a Master of Laws (LL.M) studies in International Maritime Law at the IMO International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI) based in Malta has been awarded to Ms Patience Ella Diaba from Ghana.

Ms Patience Ella Diaba is Director, Legal and Board Secretary in the Ghana Maritime Administration. The decision to award the Fellowship was made under careful review. The International Group is delighted that Mrs Patience Ella Diaba has accepted the Fellowship award.

In offering the IMLI Fellowship, the Group increases accessibility to IMLI as an institution and its postgraduate degree courses and represents the increasingly important emphasis that the Group place on education and our role in sharing knowledge and expertise across the globe in alignment with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Promoting inclusive quality education) and 8 (Lifelong learning opportunities).

“Congratulations to Ms Patience Ella Diaba from Ghana who has accepted the International Group’s offer of a Fellowship to study at IMLI. She is an exceptional candidate. The International Group looks forward to our engagement with Ms Patience Ella Diaba and the assistance that we can provide as she undertakes her LL.M programme to further her knowledge of international maritime law and thereafter when she returns to Ghana.”

IMLI was established under the auspices of the IMO and is a world-recognised centre for the training of specialists in international maritime law and provides suitably qualified candidates, particularly from developing countries, with advanced training, study and research programmes in the field. Since its establishment, maritime professionals from 147 States and territories have benefited from the Institute’s training in areas related to law of the sea, shipping law, marine environmental law, maritime security law, and maritime legislation drafting.
