IMO Maritime Safety Committee - IG attendance

The IG attended the 90th session of the IMO Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) held at the IMO headquarters from 16 - 25 May 2012. The MSC approved interim guidance to private maritime security companies (PMSC) providing contracted security personnel on board ships in the High Risk Area (MSC.1-Circ.1443). The MSC also agreed that the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) will be working closely with the IMO to develop international standards for PMSC based on the above guidance. In addition the MSC approved revised circulars as follows: * Revised interim guidance to shipowners, ship operators and shipmasters (MSC.1-Circ.1405-Rev.2) * Revised interim recommendations for Port and Coastal States (MSC.1-Circ.1408-Rev.1) * Revised interim recommendations for Flag States (MSC.1-Circ.1406-Rev.2).
