On 1 July, the Norwegian Maritime Directorate adopted changes to Regulation number 972 concerning the use of armed guards onboard Norwegian ships operating in piracy infested areas and Regulation number 904 in relation to firearms and ammunition. In addition, provisional guidelines have been developped to provide explanatory comments on relevant provisions of the Security Regulations and the firearms Regulations.
