Regulations of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) on the Prevention and Control of Marine Pollution from Ships

Tuesday, 6th December 2011

The circular provides Members with an update regarding the requirement on owners/operators to contract with an approved clean-up contractor in Chinese Ports. Although the list of approved contractors has not been published yet, the circular contains a partial list. In addition, in order to ensure that Members can negotiate and sign the necessary contracts as soon as the list is issued, the International Group has developed a recommended spill response contract and authorisation letter for agents to negotiate and sign the contract on behalf of overseas operators.
